Be the change you want to see in the world.
-Mahatma Gandhi
As a young age I started to understand environmental problems like climate change, air pollution, global warming, waste disposal, water pollution and many more. I made my personal choices to diminish my ecological footprint. I stopped eating meat 40 years ago and chose sustainability in my every-day life. When I studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki (Aalto University) I learnt old tempera techniques and read Cennino Cennini's book "I'll libro dell'arte". Later I found out more interesting techniques. After many experiments in materials I ended up to add sand, chalk, coffee, ash, tar etc. to my works. Actually they are the main materials of my art peaces. I try to avoid oil colours and plastics like acrylic. When choosing my painting materials I keep in my mind environmental issues and sustainable development.
